Turning Knowledge into Action: Why I’m Starting This Blog

I’ve always been into learning and personal development—whether it’s diving into insightful YouTube videos, reading motivational books, or picking up new ways of thinking from the people around me. The fun and novelty of it all gave me the feeling of progression and expansion. But there was one recurring issue…

I'd spend hours exposing myself to all this new information, but not  fully processing or applying it to my life. I tried jotting down a few notes here and there, but they’d often get buried and forgotten, and before I knew it,  I was onto the next new thing.

Over time, I realised all this consumption wasn’t actually moving me forward. Sometimes, I’d come across ideas that were truly fascinating, inspirational, and life-changing, but soon enough, I'd forget all about it. It would feel like nothing had changed—like I never read the book or watched the video at all, and in the end, it just amassed to wasted time.

That’s why I’m starting this blog. The goal? To turn passive learning into active growth. I want to create a space where I can actually process, reflect, and share my journey in a way that makes a difference.

Why I’m Creating This Blog

A few years ago, I came across Show Your Work by Austin Kleon, and the concept really stuck with me. The idea is simple: instead of keeping your progress hidden, share what you’re learning along the way.

At the time, I loved the idea but never put it into practice. Even though the point is to document the process, I often felt like I wasn’t knowledgeable enough or ready to share what I was learning. I struggled with deciding what was worth documenting, constantly second-guessing whether my insights were valuable. Plus, it felt like an extra effort—something that slowed down my learning rather than helped it.

But now, I see it differently. I’m embracing the challenge and viewing documenting as a crucial part of my learning process. I’m hoping it’ll push me to think more critically, deepen my understanding, and help me retain the information better. Writing things down forces me to slow down and really absorb what I’m learning. Sharing it publicly makes the experience more engaging and gives me a sense of accountability.

So, I decided to create this blog—not as an expert, but as someone sharing the journey.

The Struggle With “Levelling Up”

When I actually try to implement new systems in my life, I often end up setting too many goals at once. I get excited about planning, setting new habits, and optimising different parts of my life. But as much as I enjoy the idea of self-growth, I often find that my enthusiasm quickly fades when I realise I’ve taken on too much. This leaves me stuck in a loop of starting and stopping without seeing real progress.

Lately, I’ve been working on shifting my approach—focusing on one thing at a time, taking smaller, more intentional steps, and actually sticking with them. I’ve realised that instead of overwhelming myself with a long list of big goals, breaking them down into smaller, bite-sized tasks is much more manageable and sustainable.

With that in mind, I’m hoping this blog will also be an important part of the process. It’ll help me stay on track, reflect on my progress, and give me space to share my thoughts as I work through each step.

I’m also in the process of switching careers to become a data analyst. It’s an exciting but challenging transition, and there’s a lot to learn. Some of my posts will also focus on this journey—what I’m studying, useful resources I’ve found, and the projects and milestones I achieve along the way. By sharing these experiences, I’m hoping not only to stay on track but also to offer something useful to anyone going through a similar career shift.

What to Expect From This Blog

This won’t be a place for perfect advice or polished theories. Instead, I’ll be sharing:

  • Reflections on what I’m learning (books, YouTube videos, interesting concepts).
  • Personal experiments—what works, what doesn’t.
  • Thoughts on productivity, creativity, and self-improvement, all while figuring it out as I go.
  • Insights from my career transition into data analytics—study methods, useful tools, and lessons from the field.

Final Thoughts

I’m excited to see where this blog takes me. It’s a space to stay focused, learn, and document my growth. I’ll reflect on progress, explore new ideas, and track both small wins and big breakthroughs along the way. I'm looking forward to seeing where this journey leads.
